ABOUT CASEY RUFF PHYSIOTHERAPY

Autobiography – Casey Ruff Physiotherapy

I like adventuring with my family, going to the fitness centre, making things in my shop, fly-fishing, mountain biking, and playing sports.

Physiotherapy is actually my 3rd career. I have been a cowboy and professional level athlete, and I am a nationally licensed tradesman.

I’ve worked in many areas spanning athletics, horsemanship and backcountry tourism, construction and skilled trades, academia and research, and now health and rehabilitation.

During my athletic career I was always injured and in physiotherapy as a patient. I had to learn for myself to exercise through an injury and get myself back into competition; these experiences precipitated my adventure into rehabilitation as a profession.

Moving ahead with my experience as an athlete at the professional level, I have provided sports therapy and performance training for the Vancouver Whitecaps Pre-residency program, the Canadian Professional Rodeo Sports Medicine Team, the World Police and Fire Games, BC Ride to Conquer Cancer, and a number of marathons, the BC games, many individual athletes.

I also have extensive experience treating adult work injuries; as a tradesman I know exactly how many trades people need to work as they build our world.

Settled into the island life I volunteer my time monthly at a local paediatric orthopaedic outreach clinic.

I am also the consulting physical therapist to the Cowichan Valley school district and am the team therapist for the Nanaimo Hornets Rugby Club.
