Sports Performance Physiotherapy
Sports performance physiotherapy can be extremely variable. What works for a tennis player does not work for a long-distance runner, and what works for either does not work for a horse jumper.
Youth sports performance is more complicated yet as growth and development also plays a significant role in managing the physical nature of a sport and also with the skill of a sport.
I tailor sport performance programming specifically for the needs of the athlete and their concerns for training and competition.
Having been a professional athlete myself I recognize the needs for competing at high level athletics and the work it takes to get there. That is why I custom organize return to sport and performance programs for each athlete to meet their needs of explosive power, endurance, strength, and agility for either the field and pitch or the arena.
Being a retired professional level athlete, I’ve lived through those needs too.
Sports Taping
More than just ankles; knees, elbows, wrists, hands and shoulder all benefit from Sports Kinesiology Taping after an injury or for preventative measures.
I have been doing sports taping (known as strapping almost everywhere else in the world) since the mid 90’s. Starting in my own sports career I had to learn to tape myself for my injuries. I would go through what seemed like kilometers of tape in a season. As I went through my sports career, I learned to tape things ‘beyond the basics’ in a way that best helped support an injury, prevent them, and to improve performance; I would always have to customize things. The school of hard-knocks helped me develop my skills and refined them when I went to school.
I was able to show my skill with a roll of tape and move beyond the basics and into the custom. Not every knee injury is taped the same way. Neither is an ankle.
